Kids Club Young Ceramists

The club is designed for children aged 10–14 who already feel like creating more independently and want to get to know ceramics a bit more in depth. Ahead of us is work on more complex projects, exploring different ceramic techniques and, above all, room for independent creating, experimenting and their own creativity. From the first idea to the finished piece, the children can choose their own path or take inspiration from our brief.

Choose the starting date of the workshop

  • Small groups, max 6 kids
  • Your own project, idea to finished piece
  • Materials and firing included

Over 4 sessions of 120 minutes each, the children will go through the whole creative process, from the first idea and hand-building through finishing and drying to decorating and glazing. Thanks to the longer lessons, we have plenty of time to tackle more complex pieces and gradually bring them to their final form.

The children can create entirely their own way and come up with their own ideas, which we'll turn into reality together. But if someone prefers working to a brief or is looking for inspiration, we'll offer them a specific theme or project to use as a starting point.

The instructor is available to the children the whole time, giving advice, showing a technique or helping find a solution, while still leaving them room for independent work, experimenting and their own path.

We want children to take away not just a finished piece, but also the feeling that they managed to come up with something, create it and see it through to the end.

What's in store

From idea to hand-building

The children will try different ways of working with clay and gradually take on more complex projects too. They'll learn to think about shape, construction and the individual steps, and to find their own way of translating their idea into clay.

Your own project

Every project can look different. The children can create from their own idea or choose from a prepared brief. We'll work on pieces that already call for more time, focus and individual steps.

Creating step by step

For older children, ceramics is no longer just about making something quickly. Some pieces need time to dry, be finished and worked on further. The children learn to plan, come back to their work and gradually see it through to the end.

Decorating and glazing

A finished piece has the next part of the process ahead of it, decorating and glazing. The children will try different ways of changing the colour and surface of ceramics, and decide for themselves how their piece will look in the end.

And it doesn't end with the club

Four sessions can be just the beginning. If ceramics gets hold of your children, they can come back to our self-service studio with an accompanying adult and keep working on their ideas.

That way they can try the techniques we showed in the club on their own, come back to them, experiment and gradually discover more ways of working with clay. Without an instructor, but with room to create at their own pace and keep moving forward.

The club also includes a one-month studio membership, which gives your child discounted entries to the self-service studio for themselves and their accompanying adult. So you can come and create together, try ceramics as parent and child, and enjoy the discounted entry while you're at it.

Finished pieces ready for pickup?

As soon as all the pieces are finished, we'll let you know they're ready for pickup.

Pieces are usually ready around 1–2 weeks after the club's last lesson. We'll inform you of the exact pickup date by e-mail.

Important booking information

The club is short-term and consists of only four lessons. That's why only one missed lesson can be made up within the course.

If you know your child won't be able to attend a lesson, please let us know as soon as possible. You can excuse your child by phone or e-mail directly with the instructor.

We understand that with children, plans sometimes change from one day to the next. But if you let us know in time, we can arrange a make-up lesson and also plan the individual lessons better.
