What to expect

Two sessions, two shared experiences and pieces that only come to life thanks to the two of you.

Come and enjoy ceramics together, a child and their grown-up buddy. It can be mum, dad, grandma, grandad, auntie or anyone the child wants to create with. There's no set brief waiting for you. You'll decide what you want to make and get stuck into hand-building together.

You don't need a plan or any experience with ceramics. Just come along ready to give it a go.

Lesson 1 - hand-building

At the first session you'll pick up the clay and start hand-building together. You can make anything that comes to mind, each of you your own piece, based on your own idea and imagination. Our instructor will show you how and then give you space to create your own way. They'll stay on hand the whole time to advise and support you.

Lesson 2 - glazing and decorating

Once your pieces have dried and been through the bisque firing, we'll meet once more. This time your pieces get their colours. We'll paint and decorate them with engobes and glaze them, finishing them off together into their final form.

Two sessions, one shared experience and something to remind you of it long afterwards.

And it doesn't end there

What you try out together during the workshop can be put to use afterwards too. Both the child and you as their grown-up buddy will gain a foundation you can build on, coming back to our self-service studio to create on your own, without an instructor.

Maybe next time you'll come to make another bowl, a cocoa mug, a little animal or something you think of on the way home. You'll already know the techniques you pick up at the workshop and can keep trying, combining and exploring them your own way.

By taking part in this experience workshop you get one month's studio membership for both you and your child. With it, you can both enjoy discounted entries to the self-service studio.

Cancellation policy and make-up sessions

For this workshop we are unable to offer a make-up session. Every place is reserved for you in advance, and once it's taken we can no longer offer it to anyone else.

For this reason the cancellation fee is 100 % of the course price. Please treat your booking as a final decision – it will help you avoid unnecessary complications.

Withdrawal from purchase:

If you purchase the course online, you have the legal right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days of purchase and request a refund to your account.
